Catching sharks on fly in South Africa

Check out this video of Jimmy "The shark Man" Eagleton catching a Ducked-billed Ray of Strand beach near Cape Town.

Korrie Broos also wrote a great article on Global Flyfisher about Jimmy's exploits which can be found HERE.

  1. Those things give me the creeps. I was on vacation with my grandparents when I was younger any my grandfather caught a small ray. While releasing it the thing stuck him right through the forearm. You won't catch me near one of those things!!

  5. What Jimmy does is quite hectic. These guys wade for 100's of meters into the sea and stand on a rock waiting for sharks to show up. When they hook one they jump into the water to try and "steer" the shark away from the rocks. Imagine jumping into the water with a pissed of shark.
